Upon researching the growing number of diseases that have been labeled and categorized by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), I need to share with you my thoughts on this process. In the book, “One Cause, One Cure,” Dr. Fred Barge had printed this quote: “The really good physician prevents disease; he cannot cure anything. Because of this lack of knowledge, sickness has become more natural, or more expected, than health.”
Think about this for a moment; in our society it is common and almost expected to have a label. Labeling your condition or set of symptoms is the focus of traditional western medicine. Once you have been labeled, “Thank God!!! I can relax” is the thought process of many people. If it is labeled a genetic condition, complacency sets it. You don’t need to seek to find a way to have the best quality of life. You have been labeled with weak genetics so guess what? It is not your fault; so keep on living a crappy lifestyle.
I see this all the time with new patients who show up. They have been labeled with a medical condition: high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, scoliosis, MS, fibromyalgia, sciatica, acid reflux, etc. Then the prescriptions start… for life. There is no discussion of how to change the body’s’ physiology. There is no discussion of how to maximize function to all body parts – via a specific scientific accurate chiropractic adjustment. There is no discussion on what nutrition is needed to maximize healing. There is no discussion on the types of movement needed to bring pure oxygen to cells and eliminate waste. You get prescribed medication to treat your disease or condition’s symptoms.
There are over 3,500 conditions that have been medicalized and labeled. Diagnosis is the process by which a physician determines which disease a patient has by studying the patient’s symptoms and medical history and analyzing any tests performed (blood, urine, brain scans, etc.).
Once a diagnosis is established, you have treatment options. The definition of treatment is this: the use of drugs and surgery to alleviate conditions. There are many common prescriptions and over the counter remedies that attempt to alleviate conditions. Now the number one cause of death in
America
is the people don’t know how to get well or what causes them to get sick. The quote by Dr. Barge from above states: “Because of this lack of knowledge, sickness has become more natural, or more expected, than health.” One of the hardest parts of my job is getting people to understand that sickness and disease are not the natural state. Health is the natural state!
Dr. Barge’s statement rings true: “The really good physician prevents disease; he cannot cure anything. Because of this lack of knowledge, sickness has become more natural, or more expected, then health.”
You are responsible for how your body functions and expresses life. You need to remember a diagnosis is a way of labeling your symptoms or condition so it can be treated. The most common form of treatment is prescription medication. The majority of the time, once you are put on medications, you are instructed to stay on them for the rest of your life.
Once given a label to describe your particular set of symptoms you are not given options to create health. Remember Dr. Barge’s words: “The really good physician prevents disease; he cannot cure anything. Because of this lack of knowledge, sickness has become more natural, or more expected, than health.”
Our focus has always been to help you to understand that you were created to express health. You have an amazing body and an amazing ability to heal.
We always go back to the 5 principals of Maximized Living:
- Essential #1: Toxicity effects hormone balance and glandular function
- Essential #2: Spinal health and function
- Essential #5: Sleep, Time, and Stress
The more you become focused on these principals and apply them in your life the more you will live the life of your dreams.
Essential #3 will be presented on Monday, November 10th at 6.30pm, right here in the office. Seating is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot with the front desk. Who are you bringing?
Know anyone on Cancer-causing cholesterol-lowering drugs? Know anyone taking diabetic medicine? Know anyone on high blood pressure drugs? They need to be here.
